Have
you ever wondered what makes you happy? Apparently, it is the little things in
life that actually bring happiness to us. According to research by Double Tree
by Hilton involving 2000 participants, over a quarter of people claimed that
several little things will cheer them up. Furthermore, the research also showed
that 82% of them felt the best things in life are often came unexpected.
Surprisingly,
we human are generally optimistic in nature with more than half of the adults
surveyed saying they have a “glass half full” perspective on life. In addition,
a third of them said they are truly happy for 75% of the time.
Dr Glenn Williams, Senior Lecturer in Psychology
at Nottingham Trent University said, "As
this research shows, an effective route to happiness is not necessarily through
experiencing major events that we might have planned out such as getting
married, moving house, getting that all-important promotion, or even being on a
holiday. Rather it is the
small, and often unexpected, pleasures in life that can make us smile each and
every day to help us build happier and more meaningful lives for ourselves and
for others.”
Here are the ten little things that can bring
you happiness.
1. Finding
notes or coins in your pocket that you never know you had them.
2.
A stranger giving you a sincere smile.
3.
Getting something for free from someone.
4.
Somebody cares about you and ask how you are doing.
5.
Performing a random act of kindness to someone.
6.
That fresh, earthy smell after the rain stop.
7.
Receive call or text from a friend.
8. Looking
at old photos.
9.
Reminiscing about past happy memories.
10.
