I
have always been busy my whole life. My day would often start with me waking up
late and rushing through my morning routine in 10 minutes. That includes
brushing my teeth, bathing, answering nature’s call, having breakfast and the
likes.
Sounds
all too familiar? Many people always feel overwhelmed by the number of tasks
they have to do each day that 24 hours are insufficient for them. In tandem, there
are also those who manage to complete everything by the end of the day with
equal number of tasks in their hands. More surprisingly, they can still find
several hours to do things that they like.
‘Lack of direction, not lack of time,
is the problem. We all have twenty-four hours a day.” – Zig Ziglar.
Clearly,
there is something wrong with the way people who find themselves lack of time
manage their daily schedules. Here are the top five reasons people always find
themselves do not have enough time.
1. They Do Not Make To-Do List.
More
often than not, people waste their whole morning or even half of their day
deciding on what to do or which task to begin with. At the end of the day, you
will find yourself accomplish less tasks than expected as most of the time are
lost while you procrastinate. In order to prevent this from happening, always
make a to-do list each night before you go to bed for next day’s activities.
Hence you will feel motivated to do the things that you have planned when you
wake up every morning.
2. They Do Not Get Enough Sleep.
Sleeping
plays an important part in our life. Not only does sleeping recover your
energy, it also refresh your mind for you to perform better in your daily activities.
In addition, sleeping also eliminates toxic substances that are produced and
stored temporarily in your brain by your body while you are awake. If you have
an irregular sleep pattern, you will find yourself feeling too lethargic to do
anything. Try to set a fix sleeping routine and wake up early every day. You
will find a difference provided you have at least eight hours of sleep each
night.
3. They Do Not Utilise Their Leisure Time.
We
have our own things to do during our free time, be it beneficial or not. It can
range simply from watching movies, playing sports, hanging out with friends to
reading some books. You can actually use this time to do something that is good
for you. For example, while you are watching your favourite sitcoms, you can
always exercise at the same time. If you find yourself have nothing to do, you
can also play some educational podcasts to learn something.
4. They Are Too Ambitious.
Some
people want to save time by multitasking. While it is a good approach to complete
tasks that are simple simultaneously, you will make some mistakes on more
complicated activities which requires you to redo and correct the mistakes.
This in turn cause you to spend more time on each task rather than getting it
done right from first try. Try to focus on one task at a time and do your best
with it.
5. Say ‘Yes’ All The Time.
Those
who often lend their hands to others every single time do not usually have much
time left for themselves. Although it is a good thing to help others braving through
their hardships, most generous and overly helpful people frequently find
themselves having lesser time to spend on their own activities. The key to
solve this problem is simple; always prioritise your own personal goals and
plans before anything else.
